An adventure that offers the best of both worlds:

Compete in the best multistage race in Colombia

Get the chance to enjoy other trails and places at your own pace

ANDES EPIC CHALLENGER: MTB racing + MTB Tour

This 8 day challenge from may 25th to June 1st will give you the chance to compete in the best multistage MTB race in Colombia as well as getting to explore the surrounding trails and attractions on your bike and off it in an incredible experience that you will not forget.

Colombia is one of the world’s most amazing yet unknown destinations for nature and adventure sports. It was recently nominated as the second best country to visit in 2017. The combination of nature and people makes for a great biking destination and breeding ground to world class cyclists. You will get the chance to live the best of both worlds in this adventure of MTB racing + MTB Tour.

Andes Epic is Colombia’s best MTB competition joining all of this together in a tough challenge through lavish jungles, cool highlands, twisting single tracks and colonial towns.
In colonial times many adventurers were drawn to find the mythical legend of “El Dorado” not knowing that the real treasure was always around them. Now it’s your chance to discover this and fight for the glory of finishing against other challengers in “Andes Epic, in search of El Dorado”.

But since it is not just about beating the clock all the time, you will get a chance to extend the challenge while you discover hidden natural landmarks in your bike before and after the race and even have some time off it to go into other adventure activities and get to know the local culture. We will take care of the logistics and details to ensure you make this visit a memorable, if not life changing experience.

This trip gives you a personalized and exclusive experience mixed with the emotion of racing with hundreds for less than what some well known races charge around the world and much less than what would cost to book with other tour operators (shop around 😉 ) , yet you get the same quality and standards. Don’t hesitate, join us and start training.

Pedalling through the undiscovered trails of Colombia and alongside locals has been a one of the best cycling trips of my life.

The prologue warming up ride

We will start in Villa de Leyva (Altitude 2100m) for a relaxed ride with a good amount of descent towards the town of Moniquirá. The goal is to enjoy the ride and get our bodies prepared for the altitude and the race days ahead.

We will pass by desert, canyons and make a few stops to visit some beautiful features on the way such as the blue lagoons, the Romera hole and the Angel’s pass. The route will have some climbing (30%) but is mostly downhill (70%). We’ll have lunch in Moniquirá and then head to the nearby town of Barbosa in the province of Santander were the Andes Epic race takes place.

Our stay during the race is in a nearby country house with all the ammenities including a pool.

Each competitor will take their starting place according to their category. This is the first of the 3 stages in this race with the main 100Km course that is a real challenge in terms of endurance but it will reward you with great views, nature, plantations and towns where the locals will come out to greet you.

Adventurous Active Recovery

We will rest well to recover from the effort of the race. After breakfast we will change our pedalling gear to river gear as we will take on rafting in the Fonce River and rappelling alongside a majestic waterfall. We will eat the local delicacies for lunch and in the afternoon the group can choose to go on an optional paragliding tour or a caving tour. At night we will be heading to Barichara, a beautiful town with colonial architecture and a great view to the amazing Suarez river valley.

Exploring the ancient singletracks in the Canyon

We will get on our bikes again to explore the valley and the ancient trail built centuries ago to connect Barichara to the nearby towns. We will then take on connecting singletracks and seldomly travelled roads along the Suarez river Valley. We will pass through a few small towns and then finish the ride with a climb to the village of Berlin.

The Enduro trails on the way back to Bogotá

A visit to Colombia and the capital would not be complete without riding around the surrounding towns of the Bogotá plateau. Ubate, 1 hour away from Bogotá, is known for its production of milk and other diary products but also for its fantastic trails well suited to test your technical skills. To finish our challenger package we will ride along some enduro trails which everyone can manage at their own pace.

We will take a late lunch and head to Bogotá and drop you off at your hotels after having a farewell lunch along the road to recap on all the adventures lived.
